Vancouver – BC Council of Forest Industries (COFI) President and CEO Susan Yurkovich issued a statement today in response to the Government of British Columbia’s COVID-19 Action Plan.

“The BC Council of Forest Industries applauds the provincial government for the economic measures announced today as part of its COVID-19 Action Plan. The actions outlined in the Plan – including support for displaced workers and tax deferrals to enable cash flow and liquidity – are critically needed first steps in navigating these unprecedented times and the profound economic and social impacts that will be incurred.

With the health and economic situation in BC quickly evolving, we are working collaboratively with a broad range of partners to identify what other actions can be taken to help workers, businesses, communities and the provincial economy get through the challenging times ahead. We have also identified a number of forest sector-specific measures that will support our employees, companies and communities, and we look forward to continuing to work with government to implement these in the coming days and weeks.”
